Banana Cream Pie Milkshakes

Summer is almost here which means my blender is going to endure a lot more work as I put together a collection of NEW and REFRESHING milkshakes, smoothies, and smoothie bowls like this one.

The recipe below is one I adopted a couple months ago as a frozen dessert treat. Don’t get me wrong—I love my ice cream—but I’ve found too much sugar before bed can interfere with my sleep cycles and leave me feeling sluggish the next morning.

This milkshake does contain some sugar, yet very minimal. I use the gold nighttime tea blend from Organifi, as well as the plant-based vanilla protein powder, and both contain less than 2 grams of sugar per serving. And the banana is, of course, just natural sugar! We topped ours off with a little whipped cream, but this is totally optional. Other than the whipped cream this recipe is vegan and dairy-free.

It’s funny to even call this a milkshake because of how dang nutritious it is. Literally, there are 17 superfoods in it! The vanilla protein alone is a complete multivitamin and contains all 9 essential amino acids for cellular function, and the gold tea shields the body from pathogens and heps repair your immune system while you sleep.

I don’t know if you knew this but on average, Americans only get 6 hours of sleep a night, and just by sleeping more, we’d experience more immunity. That’s why I love the gold tea. On the nights I use it, I fall asleep quicker and get more quality sleep from the magnesium and lemon balm. Plus, the turmeric, reishi, and ginger are all aimed to support relaxation, recovery, and repair.

I  will say, it’s both these products that make the milkshake. The protein acts as the ice cream (seriously I’m still in shock at how good it is), and the tea enhances the banana flavor and makes it the perfect amount of smooth and sweet. Ingredients:

Servings: 2   Prep time: 5 min.  Total: 10 min.

Optional Additions:

  • Whipped cream as a topping
  • Cinnamon as a topping
  • Frozen pineapple

Instructions:

1. Stack everything from the top of the list to the bottom, in the blender.

2. Blend on medium-high until you have a smooth and thick consistency.

3. Place in cups and drink plain, OR add some whipped cream and cinnamon.
